BLUE ELIXIR RETINOL SERUM
Renewing anti-ageing retinol serum

We had so many requests that we had no choice but to create a facial serum with retinol (at last!). Meisani to the rescue! A new serum with retinol, the most sought-after molecule for preserving the skin's youthfulness in the world of cosmetics. Looking to smooth your skin texture, fine lines, blemishes, dark spots, and even acne spots? This is the serum for you.
Newcomers to the retinol experience needn't panic: Blue Elixir Retinol Serum contains 0.1% pure retinol , an ideal amount to introduce this ingredient into your routine for the first time. We have dermatologically tested it on sensitive skin with positive results, but remember to use it responsibly and bear a couple of things in mind... It is imperative that you ALWAYS apply your SPF50+ sunscreen as part of your routine whether you use it during the day or the morning after use, when using it at night. See the ""How to use"" tab for more information! We recommend that you start using it one or two nights a week, never, ever forgetting your sunscreen the next morning.
In addition to this powerful renewing ingredient, this incredible serum contains 87% aloe vera , 4% niacinamide and copper tripeptide, which together with retinol help to soothe, moisturise and repair the skin, as well as optimise its natural regenerative cycle to boost radiance, reduce the appearance of signs of ageing (deep wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, uneven texture, etc.) and promote more radiant, healthy-looking skin.
The icing on the cake is a blend of soothing and moisturising extracts such as flaxseed and evening primrose, which along with several antioxidant-rich extracts, protect your skin from any discomfort you may feel when you start using retinol in your routine. No added fragrance and 100% vegan.
Its light, non-oily texture is gentle to apply and absorbs quickly. Spirulina extract (yes, the famous superfood!) gives the serum its natural bluish colour, but also enriches the formula with its moisturising, antioxidant and skin-brightening properties. We have a feeling it will soon become our next best-seller, so there's no time to lose before it starts flying off the shelves.

Don't be afraid of retinol! Its effects are amazing, but read carefully. If in doubt, book an appointment with our Beauty Advisors to answer any questions you may have.
The easiest way to use it:
If you're going to start introducing retinol into your routine, make sure you start by only using it in your night-time routine first. Apply to clean, dry skin before your moisturiser — if your skin is sensitive, you can apply a thin layer of moisturiser before the retinol (Meisani's Niacinamide & Cucumber Aqua Gel Cream is perfect for this) or even put a couple of drops of this serum into your regular moisturiser when you have it in your hand so that your skin can gradually get used to it.
Yes, the skin goes through a process of adapting to retinol called retinisation. During this process you may feel a little dryness, tightness, and flaking... this is completely normal, which is why we advise you to start using it only at night, little by little, and with a moisturiser that reinforces your skin's barrier function.
Remember:
- Start by applying it one day a week. This will be enough if you have never used it and your skin is not used to it. - Always, always apply SPF50+ the next morning.
- Make sure not to combine exfoliation, acids or peels with retinol in the same routine or during the first few weeks of using it. If you're a beginner, your skin will thank you.
- When using retinol, it's always a good idea to reinforce your skin's barrier function. The Rice & Shine Hyaluronic Acid Essence Toner is an excellent combination!
After about a month of regular use at night only, and depending on the tolerance of your skin, you can begin to use it during the week every other day. When the time comes, you can also use it during the day (if you are not going to expose yourself to direct sunlight) but always, always with SPF50+ sunscreen, okay? :)
